Isobel Dixon

Isobel Dixon is Head of Books and Director of the Blake Friedmann Literary Agency where she represents writers from around the world. Her clients’ work includes literary fiction, crime and thrillers, young adult fiction, memoir, popular culture, biography, history and current affairs. (Unfortunately she does not represent poets unless they are also prose writers). Authors on her list have won all the major South African literary awards, the Windham-Campbell Prize, the Caine Prize, Commonwealth and PEN Awards, the OCM Bocas Prize and been shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize, the Man Asian Literary Prize, the Costa Prize, the Orange Prize and the Booker Prize, among others. She has translated novels from the Afrikaans and her debut poetry collection Weather Eye (Carapace, 2001) won the Olive Schreiner Award in South Africa. Her latest collection Bearings was published by Modjaji in South Africa and Nine Arches in the UK and Scottish publisher Mariscat released her pamphlet, The Leonids, all in 2016. In 2017 Nine Arches will re-issue her earlier titles A Fold in the Map and The Tempest Prognosticator.
