Do you want to know how to bring your creative vision from sketch to computer screen to bookshelf?
On Tuesday 24th November, Hachette UK are hosting our second Changing the Story Design Festival aimed at demystifying the publishing industry for designers from Black, Asian, Mixed Heritage and Minority Ethnic communities.
This will involve a day of;
Understanding what employers want to see in your portfolio and how to put together applications for publishing roles.
Hearing how designers collaborate with other departments such as editorial, sales and production.
Creative workshops.
Networking with peers and finding out more from highly talented designers with varying design backgrounds and experience.
The Design Festival will be based at our Central London office – Carmelite House, 50 Victoria Embankment, EC4Y 0DZ. We will also be supporting your attendance by paying for reasonable economy travel expenses (max £50 contribution) and providing lunch.
About us
Our mission at Hachette UK is to make it easy for everyone to discover new worlds of ideas, learning, entertainment and opportunity. Central to this is Changing the Story, one of the four pillars to our business strategy; it is our commitment to the vital work of diversity, equity and inclusion, and to ensuring that we include all voices, perspectives, and ideas in our partnerships, people and publishing.
The aim of the festival is to create a pathway, inspire, inform, and engage new talent from Black, Asian, Mixed Heritage and Minority Ethnic communities to enter publishing design departments so that our business can better reflect the society we live in and the readers we want to serve. Supported by volunteer Designers and Art Directors across the different publishing divisions at Hachette UK, the festival delivers interactive workshops and talks where knowledge and expertise can be shared with the attendees.
